Abstract Submission Guidelines

The SRI will not be held responsible for abstract submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events. 


Abstract Categories

SRI will continue to accept the following abstract category topics:



In-Training Verification Form

In order to qualify for the In Training travel awards and for In Training oral and poster award prizes you must verify your status by uploading a Verification Form during the abstract submission process.

You are an Investigator In Training if you fulfill the following two criteria:

  1. You fall into one of the following categories:
  1. Clinical Fellow in an approved training program, specialty research fellow (Ex: (WRHR, RSDP)
  2. Postdoctoral Fellow within six years of receiving doctoral or senior degree
  3. Resident                                                                                                  
  4. Student: Full-time students enrolled in a formal training program leading to a degree (BA, BS, MD, PhD, MS, MPH)
  5. Postgraduate Research Trainee: Individuals within three years of receiving their bachelor’s or master’s degree engaged in a predoctoral research experience (i.e. Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA/CRTA) Program)
  1. You do not currently hold and have never held a faculty position or equivalent in any country.

Early Career Researcher: Someone within their first five (5) years of a faculty or faculty equivalent position. Additionally, should an individual go on parental, health, or any other type of leave, that will not count against the five (5) years.

One may not be both an Early Career Researcher, and In Training.

The following form must be completed by all In Training Presenters whether or not you would like to be eligible for an award.

The letter must be uploaded during the abstract submission process or emailed to info@sri-online.org as a PDF or Word Document.


Previously Presented Abstracts


Evaluation of abstracts will be based on the following considerations:

  1. Originality/Innovation: Is the idea or approach novel or is the work primarily confirmatory and/or a direct extension of previous work?
  2. Significance/Relevance: Does the work address an important problem?
  3. Objective/Hypothesis: Is an objective, specific research question and/or hypothesis stated?
  4. Methods: Are the methods described? Are the methods employed appropriate to the research question? Were new methods used and validated?
  5. Results: Are the results described clearly and succinctly? Was data evaluated statistically?
  6. Discussion: Is the conclusion supported by the data
