SRI Awards

The Society for Reproductive Investigation is pleased to be able to provide the following awards at our 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting:

 Early Career Investigator Award 
The Early Career Investigator Travel Award, with support from the National Institutes of Health, was established to enhance the career development of early investigators by facilitating interaction with other scientists in the field, development of research collaborations, and exposure to the latest technologies and scientific developments in reproductive biology and medicine. Early career investigators are defined as individuals who have completed their terminal research degree or end of post-graduate clinical training, whichever date is later, within the past 10 years and who has not previously competed successfully as PD/PI for a substantial NIH independent research award. Up to four $1,000 travel awards and certificates will be given beginning in 2019 to awardees who will be selected by competitive review of abstracts submitted to each annual SRI meeting by the Program Committee, with special regard paid to representation of women and minorities.

Giorgio Pardi Foundation Awards
Provides a $1,000 monetary award to a Junior Scientist as well as the three best young worthy investigators coming from Italian Universities. The award winners will be presented at the Award Ceremony during the SRI Annual Scientific Meeting.

Laxmi Baxi Awards
Established in 2013 and will be awarded to PhD individuals only, who are either graduate students still in training or postdoctoral fellows within five years of their PhD degree. Two $1,000 travel awards will be given to the top abstracts in basic reproductive science and in translational reproductive science. The awardees will receive a plaque, award and they will be honored at the SRI Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony. This award is made possible by a generous, long-standing member of SRI, Dr. Laxmi Baxi, and was created to encourage young PhD trainees to present their research at our meeting.

SRI President's Presenter's Awards
Originally established in 1996 as the Wyeth President’s Presenter Award to recognize the 25 most meritorious oral abstracts submitted by individuals still in training. Fellows and those in both pre and post-doctoral training are eligible to receive the award. SRI Membership is not required to be considered for the award. The 25 awardees will receive a certificate and a $1,000 award, and they and their training directors will be honored directly following the President's New Investigator Plenary session at the Annual Meeting.  The Society has always sought a means by which to encourage young investigators to present their research at our meeting. We anticipate the SRI President’s Presenter’s Award will encourage more abstract submissions and higher quality abstracts by the very people who need encouragement to consider a research career.

President's Plenary Awards
Recognizes the four highest ranked abstracts chosen for presentation at the President’s New Investigator Plenary. The recipients of the award will each be presented with a $1,000 award directly following the President's New Investigator Plenary. These awards are supported by the SRI Past Presidents' Fund.

SRI In Training Investigator Poster Awards
Initiated at the 2010 SRI Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, two senior investigators will be discussing/judging posters presented by in training investigators. The Poster Presenter will summarize their work for the judges, followed by questions from the poster discussants/judges. Certificates and $100 monetary awards will be given to the best 20 posters at the SRI Annual Meeting Hot Topics and Awards Luncheon.

The SRI Travel Awards
The SRI Travel Awards were established in 2018 to support the attendance of In Training Investigators at the Annual Meeting and recognize trainees for the high quality of their abstracts. In Training Investigators and/or your PI are required to be an SRI Member to be considered for the SRI Travel Awards. Up to a total of 50 Awards will be given to intercontinental* ($1,000 - North America based), and continental* (outside of North America) In Training Investigators ($500). The awardees will be recognized at the Annual Meeting by having their names placed both on a sign, as well as on a slide projected throughout the meeting.

*Intercontinental and Continental will change based on where the Annual Meeting is located. For 2019, Continental refers to awardees located outside of North America. Intercontinental refers to awardees located in North America. 

Thomas McDonald Award
Acknowledges the highest ranked abstract by an in training investigator within the field of fetal neuroscience. This award honors the legacy of Dr. McDonald, whose immense contributions to the field of obstetrics and gynecology focused upon the neuroendocrinology of the developing fetus, placental function, fetal brain development, and the uterine contractility. The $750 monetary award and certificate will be presented at the Award Ceremony during the SRI Annual Scientific Meeting.

Underrepresented Minority Registration Awards
To both encourage global participation and further diversify the Annual Meeting, SRI offers Awards to allow discounted Annual Meeting registration for 25 individuals who are underrepresented in their country or originate from a low-income, lower-middle-income, or upper-middle-income country. The awardees will be recognized at the Annual Meeting.
