Glasgow is a vibrant and compact city with plenty to offer delegates outside of conference sessions.
The city has a range of cultural attractions including many museums and art galleries offering free entry, such as the stunning Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the award-winning Riverside Museum.

Visitors can explore the works of artist and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, walk the city centre Art Mural Trail or take a stroll through one of the many parks and green spaces.

Glasgow is a UNESCO City of Music with over 150 live music events per week, plus a full calendar of other exciting events and festivals throughout the year.

The food and drink scene offers something for everyone, from traditional whisky pubs to fine dining, in a variety of lively neighbourhoods including Finnieston (SEC), the City Centre, the West End and Merchant City.

Delegates can look forward to a warm welcome in a city voted ‘world’s friendliest city’ by Rough Guides.

If you’re extending your stay, Glasgow has excellent travel connections for exploring Scotland and an exciting selection of year-round tours leaving daily for the Scottish Highlands.


Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Note: As of 2025, all travelers to the UK, excluding British and Irish citizens, will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travel to or transit through the UK. Visit our useful information page for guidance.

To enter Scotland (United Kingdom), international travelers are required to have a valid passport. A visa and/or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required for the citizens of countries that do not have visa-exempt agreements with Scotland.

Nationals from certain European and non-European countries that are traveling to the UK on or after January 8, 2025 will now require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

Please visit the UK government travel site or your local UK Consulate, for questions and/or to confirm what you will require to enter Scotland (United Kingdom).

SRI cannot assist participants with the visa application process and cannot intervene with embassies or consulates on behalf of participants. The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the Society for Reproductive Investigation in any way. The meeting organizers cannot change the decision of the governmental agency should your application be denied. Any application fees are the sole responsibility of the registrant.

Advance travel planning and early visa/ETA application submission are important. It is recommended that you apply early for your visa and/or ETA.


Getting to Glasgow

Glasgow International Airport (GLA) is the main airport in Glasgow and is located approximately 7.8 miles from the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) (Exhibition Way, Glasgow G3 8YW).

Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) is approximately 42.8 miles from the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow (Exhibition Way, Glasgow G3 8YW).

Taxis or rideshares (Uber) are commonly used and available at the airport.

 


Electricity

Glasgow operates on a 230-120V (50 Hz) supply voltage. The plug type used in the United Kingdom is the G plug.

Money

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are widely available. There are also several Bureaux de Changes in the city.

Credit and debit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Some smaller shops and guesthouse accommodation may only accept cash.

Time Zone

Glasgow's time zone is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or one hour ahead of GMT, known as British Summer Time (BST), during the summer months.
