The Vancouver Convention Centre consists of two uniquely designed buildings, the iconic East building, hosting SRI 2024; and connected West building, the world’s first double LEED® Platinum certified convention facility. With 466,500 square feet (43,340 square meters) of pre-function, meeting, exhibition and ballroom space, the facility is able to host multiple, simultaneous events as well as large single events with upwards of 16,000 delegates.

The Convention Centre is designed with the latest environmentally sustainable features and technology, including a six-acre “living roof”, the largest of its kind in Canada the largest non-industrial living roof in North America. This green roof features more than 400,000 indigenous plants/grasses and is designed to act as an insulator, reducing heat gains in the summer and heat losses in the winter. Additionally, the sophisticated black water treatment plant recycles grey and black water that goes back into our washrooms for toilet flushing and is used for rooftop irrigation during warmer weather. The seawater heating and cooling system takes advantage of the adjacent seawater to produce cooling for the building during warmer months and heating in colder months.

The Vancouver Convention Centre is committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible, maximizing natural light and ventilation throughout the facility, featuring wood sourced locally from sustainably-managed forests in British Columbia. The Centre also features Canada’s largest waterfront ballroom with five-story high ceilings, open terraces, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking mountain and harbour vistas. If you find yourself at the West wing during your time in Vancouver, you will notice that a restored marine habitat is built into the foundation of the building- water quality in the area has improved dramatically, with the growth of a large variety of sea life.
