The Oregon National Primate Research Center is at Risk

The Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) supports the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) and the incredible work it has accomplished for decades. The threat to transition the ONPRC into a sanctuary would lead to devastating consequences for biomedical research. On February 9, the Oregon Health and Sciences University Board will vote on whether to begin this transition.

The ONPRC specifically includes a strong list of Reproductive Sciences achievements:

  • Novel non-hormonal contraceptive methods
  • Mechanisms of female infertility (e.g. PCOS)
  • Improving IVF protocols
  • Endocrine control of pregnancy and parturition
  • Role of prostaglandins and inflammatory mediators in uterine contractility
  • Fertility preservation for cancers survivors
  • Develop advanced placental and fetal imaging techniques
  • Causal link between intrauterine bacterial infection and preterm labor
  • Efficacy and safety of new therapies for preterm labor
  • Postnatal neurodevelopmental outcomes of antibiotic treatment of preterm labor
  • Novel neuroprotective therapies for neonatal encephalopathy
  • Placental, fetal and neonatal mechanisms of injury caused by Zika Virus infection
  • Effect of prolonged CPAP on neonatal lung development
  • Vitamin C to protect fetal lung injury in pregnant smokers
  • Assessing role of vaginal microbiome in female reproductive health
  • Pioneering gene edited models of human disease
  • Developing advanced artificial reproductive technologies
  • Efficacy of emergency contraceptives
  • Preventing pre-eclampsia
  • Discovering the key components of amniotic fluid
  • Outcomes of obesity on fertility and pregnancy health
  • Trophoblast organoids
  • Novel treatments for endometriosis
  • NHP samples for validation of advanced in vitro pregnancy models
  • Impact of advanced maternal age on embryo development
  • Efficacy of pre-implantation embryo genetic testing

Take action and send a letter to the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Board of Directors urging them to vote NO to transitioning the ONPRC to a sanctuary:
